Korea’s National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) provides mandatory health coverage for most long-term foreign residents.
How Enrollment Works
Most long-term visa holders are automatically enrolled after 6 months of residence. You will begin receiving monthly premium bills.
Monthly Premiums

What NHIS Covers
- Outpatient visits: approximately 30–50% copay depending on facility type
- Hospitalization: approximately 20% copay
- Prescription medication: copayment varies
Using Healthcare Services
- Bring your ARC to the clinic or hospital
- Register at reception
- See the doctor
- Pay your copayment at the billing counter
- Take prescriptions to a nearby pharmacy (약국)
